A Braille Tale

Lacey is getting better everyday at Braille. I am doing great at writing it, but feeling the braille, I stink!!!! I am improving but she is doing A.W.E.S.O.M.E! Here are two funny stories thus far and im sure many more to come.

Lacey starts out by learning a letter a day. For those who don't know braille, braille has contractions: for an example, L is (... but vertical)is the contraction for Like and when you are reading a sentence, if you come along a single "L" in the sentence it is short for "Like" Hope thats not too confusing. Back to the story- Lacey learns a letter a day. The teacher will ask Lacey, what do you think is the contraction for this letter, and then Lacey will guess what word she thinks would be the contracti0n. Well the teacher got to the letter F. And the teacher said, "ok lacey, what contraction do you think the F word would be?" The teacher said Lacey got big eyed and just stared at her like, do you really want me to say it? I just thought that was HYSTERICAL knowing Lacey's history with this word. I guess the teacher then said..no no no Lacey- there is another word that starts with F like, From? ha ha ha

Another story:

Lacey brought this red Kitchen Aid flimsy matte looking thing home from school. I had idea what it was so I left it in her backpack. David got home and looked into Laceys backpack and said to me, why did they give her a cuttting board? I told him, I dont know maybe she won it or something. He was very excited and started to use it immediately. He must have cut 100 things on it. Lacey (two days later) came home and said, why is my braille holder on the counter? David and I both walked over and said what is this!?? She said it is a matte that holds your braille papaer so it doesnt slide?? OOPS Our bad!

4 years and counting

Papa Oneil just informed that we are starting our fourth year of Bootcamp (drdrillinstructorprogram) ! Currently we are in session 26 and we (Family Oneils and I- along with some other people) started session 11.

Dr. Drill was starting a new branch at the Indian Valley Y and I happened to see his signs all over the front desk Sunday while I was working there. I said to Magic, who was working with me at the time, lets do this!! Lets get up at 530am and workout! She said why not, and waallaaaa the idea was solid!!! I remember coming home and telling David that i was going to do this and he said good luck trying to get up that early. Alarm was set, I had my water packed, an orange and I was ready to go. I slept like crap that night because I was so anxious about getting up and getting there. I had no idea what to expect. All I knew was Magic better be there since she said she was going to do this with me. I didnt even know what Drill looked like. I was going to show up and well-die. :)

I got there and there was a lot of people standing by themselves looking like I did. (A deer in headlights) Some people knew each other already. These people were from Lansdale helping Drill make a stink at IV. (coop, Val, Zimm, Besz, I think slim was there) HUgs were being tossed around and I thought to myself...wow do these people know each other? Then we were called to attention and sweat hit the ground. I was scared, not gonna lie. More scared of screwing up and being called out. I did ok. One time I went to bathroom and was followed shortly by Miss Cathy Cooper aka COOP. Little did she know that one day her and I would be very good friends. After I was done flushing the toilet, I came out of the stall and there she was.
"HI. Are you ok?" Said Coop
With my red face a glowing I said "yes!"

Zimm was there too. He was such a motivator! Still got his email he sent me Jan 9 2009!
My email was to him:
Goal 1.) Keep going no matter how tired I am
Goal 2.) Make sure everyone knows my name and face ..
with this, success in within my reach.

Oh good Lord do they Bee Bach? Do they?! :)

He wrote back:
"By the way Lisa, (who the hell is that?) you are doing great. I love seeing the younger people taking care of themselves, make it away of life and you will enjoy life all the better! Peace, Zimm"

That brings a tear to my eye.
I didnt vomit which is a great thing. My first squad leader ever was Mr. Steve Vincet!!! AKA Ralph!! I guess he did RALPH his first session. Crazy! That session I lost 19lbs and won the Motivation award. Oneil Family won the Heart Award. I will have to ask Coop who HG was!

I have been there ever since. I will always bee there supporting that Program. DDIP'er FOR LIFE
Love it..Changed who I am today in sooooo many ways (another blog later)

Only One Bee Bach :)
